According to Production Bulletin, Lanterns is scheduled to begin filming on February 10, 2025. This date aligns with previously speculated early 2025, indicating that this project is indeed being prioritized over others. The first season of the series will include eight episodes and filming is expected to last several months from February 10 to July 1, 2025. If everything goes according to plan and there are no unforeseen events, it is expected to air on HBO in late 2025. While that may be a possibility for series, post-production VFX for most “super” shows could push the release date to 2026. However, fans are still looking forward to the return seasons of other DC dramas such as Peacemaker and The Sandman. The Lantern was filmed entirely in Los Angeles, California, making it the first DC series from the revamped DC Universe to be filmed in the City of Angels.

The Lanterns is an adaptation of the Green Lantern comics centered around two intergalactic detectives, John Stewart and Hal Jordan, starring Aaron Pierre (The Underground Railroad) and Kyle Chandler (Friday), respectively. Lanterns has assembled the best talent to bring the story to life. In addition to Pierre and Chandler, the series also stars Poorna Jagannathan (Onyx Collective’s Deli Boys), Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire), and Garret Dillahunt (Deadwood). The series is directed by Chris Mundy (Ozark) and co-produced by Damon Lindelof (Watchmen) and Tom King (Mister Miracle).
