New Delhi:
A video of a couple having sex on a plane has sparked widespread outrage on social media and led to an internal investigation by the airline.
This video was captured by a surveillance camera in the cockpit control of a Swissair airliner.
It depicts a couple having sex in the galley of an airplane. The footage was filmed on Swissair Flight 181 during a 12-hour flight from Bangkok to Zurich in November.
“A couple on a recent SwissAir flight from Bangkok to Zurich participated in the Mile High Club in the first class galley, which was secretly recorded by the pilot. The cockpit crew has now recorded the footage. “Ever since it went viral, I’ve been under investigation for sharing it in a group chat,” one person wrote to X while sharing a screenshot of the viral video.

Swissair launched an investigation into the “breach” of privacy, and airline officials vowed to identify and discipline the flight attendant responsible for recording the video without the couple’s permission and later posting it on social media.
The Daily Mail quoted Meike Fourlot, a spokesperson for Swissair Media, as saying: “Filming people without their explicit consent and transmitting these recordings is a policy that our company does not support.” “This is contrary to our guidelines and values and in violation of applicable data protection regulations.”
She noted that the crew who spotted the couple on camera should not have “intervened directly” and filmed the act. “Our crews are known for their professionalism. We trust in their abilities and are confident in their abilities,” Fleurot added.
Additionally, the airline noted that both the viral video and the sarcastic comments on social media were “disrespectful” to passengers.
Fleurot said the airline is trying to figure out “what exactly happened and how these recordings were leaked.” Passenger trust and respectful treatment are our top priorities,” an airline official said.
It must be noted that the plane’s surveillance cameras were part of the crew safety measures installed after the 9/11 hijackings. These are not intended to monitor passengers, but to monitor for attempts to enter the cockpit, she added.
