Chapel Lawn is the favorite to win big at the 2025 Grammy Awards. If she wins the award, it might cause a bit of controversy.
On Zane Lowe’s Carpool Karaoke Christmas, which premiered on Apple TV+ on Monday (December 16), the 26-year-old pop star revealed that she has mixed feelings about the awards ceremony. He hinted that perhaps Zane Lowe would appear. If she wins any of the six nominations at the 2025 ceremony, there’s little to no major upset.
“For me, this is a double-edged sword, because I’m like, ‘Yeah, this is a talent show for popular kids,'” she began talking about the Grammys. “That’s one side.
“But the other side of it is, ‘Oh my God, a gay writer who didn’t grow up in the industry, who wasn’t well-known in the industry, and a gay artist wrote a gay song that went to No. 1. I mean, it’s amazing. I’ve been crushing her for like 10 years?” Roan continued. “It’s an honor for me. I’m so honored to be nominated along with other artists. ”
The Missouri native will be nominated for next year’s “Big Four” Grammy categories, including Best New Artist, Album of the Year for Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, and Song and Record of the Year at the Billboard Hot Awards. All candidates are listed. Top 10 hit “Good Luck, Babe!” When asked if she would be ready to give a speech if she were called on stage for the 100th time, Roan replied, “Good Luck, Babe!” I’m going to say something controversial.
“Why not? What do I have to lose, young lady?” the “Pink Pony Club” artist added. “Fearlessness comes from knowing in your heart that you will always be okay.”
Grammy nominations were announced in November, and it was revealed that Roanne will be tied with Sabrina Carpenter and Taylor Swift with six nominations each in 2025. Beyoncé has the most nominations for next year’s ceremony with 11, while Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar and Post Malone are also nominated. They are tied for second place with 7 cases each.
In addition to the Big Four, Roan also won Best Pop Solo Performance for “Good Luck, Babe!” It was Midwest Princess’ best pop vocal album, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in August. The project, and Roan’s career by extension, has steadily snowballed since its September 2023 release, with the star ending 2024 as Billboard’s top new artist.
And while the VMA winner has been candid about his excitement over the Grammy nomination, he has previously expressed mixed feelings. “I hope I don’t win[the Grammys],” she told The Face in September. “Because then everyone would get off my a–: ‘Look, we did it, but we didn’t win, bye!’ We don’t have to do this anymore!”
