The Marvel Cinematic Universe is constantly providing fans with new content, both in theaters and streaming through Disney+ subscriptions. There are many highly anticipated Marvel movies coming up, and the next one is Captain America: Brave New World. One of the actors who appeared in the movie confirmed that his role in the movie was cut, which is disappointing for fans.
Due to Marvel’s tight security, what we know about Captain America: Brave New World is quite limited. The cast list for Captain America 4 originally included WWE’s Seth Rollins as a member of the Serpent Society. However, when she recently appeared on Insight with Chris Van Vleet, she revealed that her planned role was left on the cutting room floor. In his words:
Well, even if I’m not in the movie anymore, does the NDA still apply?To tell you the truth, the answer I gave is just my opinion on it. The script was rewritten and reshot so many times that essentially all I had to do was have my role reused or erased entirely.
I’m not a lawyer, but personally I wouldn’t interfere with Marvel’s NDA. I don’t think he’s revealed anything about the movie, strictly speaking. Rollins explained why he won’t be appearing in the future. And clearly he sounds understandably depressed.
Fans who have watched Marvel movies in sequence over the years have likely heard about how certain projects change and develop during filming. Captain America: Brave New World is under pressure to deliver without Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, so it’s only natural that a rewrite will occur. Later in the same podcast appearance, Seth Rollins elaborated further on his journey with the blockbuster, saying:
So I did a little audition for another role. I think it was probably a repurposing of my role, but I don’t know exactly what it was. However, they ended up going in different directions. And yeah, my understanding is that they know that there were just a lot of rewrites and a lot of reshoots and they came up with a finished product that they’re happy with and hopefully it’s a success, but that It will be without Seth Rollins.
Let’s talk about unfortunately. Landing a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a dream for many actors out there. There is no doubt that Seth Rollins would have been great in the rejected role. He won’t be appearing in any new Captain America movies anymore, so we hope he gets a chance to be a part of some fun things in future projects.
The WWE icon will be gone, but fans are excited to see other names appear in the next MCU movie, including Harrison Ford, Liv Tyler, and Giancarlo Esposito. We’ll have to wait and see how everything changes later this winter.
“Captain America: Brave New World” will be released in theaters on February 14th. For now, check out the movie’s release date in 2025.
