Director Vijay Karthikeyaa made a promising debut with Max and has crafted a captivating script that changes everything overnight. The story is filled with constant twists and turns, and is anchored by the overwhelming presence of Kicha Sudeep as Max. The film has some loopholes and dead ends, but the fast-paced and crisp storytelling ensures that they don’t linger in the viewer’s mind for long. Kartikeyaa’s direction complements Sudeep’s natural charisma and creates a thrilling cinematic experience.
Kichcha Sudeep makes a big comeback as Max. True to his trademark style, Sudeep injects natural flair and charm into his characters, adding layers of mystery and unpredictability, while maintaining mass appeal. The quick-paced story limits the Ega star’s opportunities to show off his full range as an actor, but his electrifying screen presence, sharp dialogue delivery, and whistle-worthy action sequences make up for it. Max features a distinguished ensemble cast including Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, Samyukta Hornad, Pramod Shetty, Sunil and others. The film effectively incorporates their characters into the story, ensuring that each has a role to play. Their performances range from mostly decent to underwhelming. Varalakshmi Sarathkumar struggles to find her footing and looks out of place, while her portrayal of Sunil is reminiscent of his Pushpa character, Mangalam Shrinu.
