If you’re like us and have been waiting for Severance for years after that cliffhanger, I can’t imagine running into anything else first. But the season 2 premiere episode is just coming out this weekend, so if you have time, head to the theater. A huge Severance fan, SZA joins KeKi Palmer in this heartbreaking buddy comedy produced by Issa Rae for the first time – a truly amazing trio. Robbie Williams’ chimpanzee biopic that caused a stir online, some interesting docs, and critical favorites Sing Sing and Substance will also return to theaters. look! It’s good.

Produced by Issa Rae, KiKi Palmer and SZA’s buddy comedy is sure to have a good time. Meanwhile, Palmer and SZA’s characters, Dru and Alyssa, are each having a terrible time on One of Them Days. When Alyssa’s boyfriend runs out of rent, the two spend the day trying to figure out how to make it back before they get evicted. This is a fun comedy with a hilarious supporting cast consisting of Janelle James, Katt Williams, Lil Rel Howery, and Maud Apatow.
In Pedro Almodovar’s first English-language film, the Oscar-winning Spanish director co-stars Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore in a story about friendship and mortality. Martha (Swinton) is dying of cancer and enlists the help of Ingrid (Moore) for a trip to the Catskill Mountains where Martha can end her life on her own terms. Although the film is full of beautiful, bold colors, the relationship between Martha and Ingrid is the true focus of Almodovar’s vision. —TW
Following the success of Leigh Whannell’s modern version of The Invisible Man, the filmmaker is tackling another classic horror figure with The Wolf Man. Whannell once again teams up with Blumhouse to direct the film, which stars Christopher Abbott in the role of Blake. Blake is forced to return his family (Julia Garner and Matilda Firth) to his father’s house after his estranged father mysteriously disappears, only to be bitten by a werewolf.
Exploring the common practices and ambiguous ethics of family video blogging, An Update On Our Family is based on Caitlin Moscatello’s The Cut piece about the Stauffer family, who adopted and later re-adopted a boy from China. I’m inspired.
A spin-off of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, the television series focuses on Lara Jean Covey’s sister Kitty (Anna Cathcart), who attends a boarding school in Seoul. Now, it’s time for the arranged sister’s love.
This year is a big year for Saturday Night Live, so naturally there are multiple projects supporting it. This isn’t the only documentary released by Peacock this year. If you’re a fan of SNL, Beyond Saturday Night includes four episodes worth of never-before-seen footage and interviews with many people.
The game show that tests contestants’ ability to tell whether a celebrity is lying is back in prime time. Drew Barrymore will be the permanent center square, but you know she’s going to invade the other squares. —Jen Cheney
Last season of DC’s best animated series ended with a face-painted heroine proclaiming, “I’m better than the heroes.” I’m Harley Fucking Quinn! ” This season follows her beloved Poison Ivy abandoning grimy Gotham and moving to Metropolis. Whatever you do, don’t call it Robotech. The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, an original Japanese transforming robot series created by Masaharu Kawamori and an animated version of the 80’s classic co-produced by Japan and the US, is now available to stream on Hulu in the US for the first time in many years. Ta. This release includes most of the shows and movies from the larger Macross series, including the 90’s classic Macross Plus. This served as an early showcase of talent for director Shinichiro Watanabe and composer Yoko Kanno, and the two collaborated briefly on Cowboy Bebop. A few years later. As far as mecha anime goes, the various Macross works are among the most popular. —EVB
Please have tissues ready. Based on a real-life Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA) program, Sing Sing follows a theater troupe made up of incarcerated men. Although the main focus is on Divine G (Colman Domingo), a talented performer and playwright who is wrongly imprisoned, the film’s power comes from its ensemble of real RTA alumni, who look natural on camera. An underdog of awards season, the Aaron Simberg-directed drama won the Gotham Award for Best Picture and won the Golden Globe for Sebastian Stan, who plays a man who undergoes miraculous surgery to disfigure his face but remains miserable. Awarded. We meet the charismatic Oswald (a great performance by Adam Pearson).

Bob Uecker, the famous Milwaukee Brewers announcer known as Mr. Baseball, also passed away this week. He became nationally known for his appearances on The Tonight Show and his role as a radio commentator on the 1989 comedy Major League, which streamed on Prime Video.
