Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez finalized their divorce on August 20, 2024, 20 weeks after Ben Affleck initiated the dissolution of their marriage. People reported the news on Monday, January 6, citing court documents obtained.
The exes, who were engaged in the early 2000s before breaking up in 2004, rekindled their romance in 2021 and tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Las Vegas in July 2022. The couple then celebrated their secret marriage in a lavish ceremony in Georgia. August 20, 2022 with friends and family.

JLo filed for divorce exactly two years after their wedding in Georgia, setting their separation date as April 26 and citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their separation. Multiple media outlets reported at the time that she filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court without a lawyer. The actress asked the judge to waive spousal support to either party and split her attorney fees.
Lopez said in court documents that the “exact nature” of their community, quasi-community property and separate property is “unknown” and “to be determined” in the future.
The Atlas star also requested that her previous name, Jennifer Lynn Lopez, be restored.
