Apple’s biggest “Indian iPhone Partner” is expanding in North America

Apple's biggest

Tata Electronics is reportedly expanding its presence in North America, particularly in California, employing more than two dozen technical and sales professionals. A LinkedIn post from Tata Group’s contract manufacturing division highlighted its focus on “Flecting engineering excellence, product reliability and business growth.” In November 2023, TATA Electronics signed a Stock Purchase Agreement (SPA) to acquire 100% stake in Wistron InfoComm Manufacturing (India) Private Limited (WMMI). This partnership made Tata Group the first Indian company to create an Apple iPhone. The Westron Factory is located near Bengaluru.
Last month, TATA Electronics announced it would manage a 60% stake in Pegatron Technology India Private Limited, a subsidiary of Taiwan’s electronics giant Pegatron Corporation. This will see TATA Electronics narrowing down the production value gap with Foxconn when assembling domestic Apple iPhones. The acquisition and management of Pegatron’s iPhone plant near Chennai follows the purchase of Wistron’s facility in Narsapura (Karnataka) in Tatas, which assembled the Iphone in March 2024. The Tata Group Company is also investing in a new iPhone factory in Tamil Nadu’s Hosur, which is scheduled to begin commercial production later this year.

Tata Electronics LinkedIn Posts on North American Employment

“We are leading business development efforts to attract new customers for OSAT services,” the company said in its job statement. “We will generate new leads and guide you through various business development stages, including private agreements (NDAs), promotions, follow-ups, requests for citations (RFQs)/citations, contracts, and design awards,” he said. The expansion marks recent strategic moves for Tata Electronics, including Reda Masarwa as senior vice president of construction and facilities, including Bhavna Madhwal and Scott Holden leading US employment initiatives, including hiring key personnel from Intel. Tata Electronics looks beyond Apple

Tata Electronics mirrors Foxconn models by targeting other smartphone manufacturers such as Xiaomi and Oppo, and exploring new product categories. Tata Electronics is also said to be in talks with US-based companies such as Microsoft, Dell and HP to enter the laptop and PC market.
