Details of the updated February 7th look at the update details and precisely how to upgrade to avoid over-the-air application.
When Apple released the latest iPhone software update, iOS 18.3, it was for all iPhones on the iPhone XS and above. You can read comprehensive details of what you find here and whether you need to upgrade here. Currently, Apple has re-released the software with new build numbers for only three iPhones: the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Additionally, it needs to be sideloaded to install it. You simply open the Settings app, select software updates, select a process that you can check independently, and you won’t be able to do that in the usual way.

“Available only for iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max at this time. According to Aaron Zollo on YouTube Channel Zollotech, if you want to install it, use your Mac or Windows computer and click (Update) You must install it like that through the Finder.
Zollotech also says that they’re updating from previous software and selecting an over-the-air solution will still get the previous build rather than the new one.
You can make sure that is correct. I took my purple iPhone 11 out of retirement and updated using regular methods. It took a little time. To be fair, I haven’t done anything for almost five years so the download was pretty big. Once finished I checked the build number (I went to Settings and tapped “iOS Version” and it became clear that it was actually Build Number 22d63.
I then connected my iPhone to my MacBook Pro via USB-C, trusted the other devices, opened the Finder and confirmed that I had clicked on the iPhone. The first message in the window that opened said the phone was up to date.
However, when you click Check for Updates, you will see “The new iPhone software version (18.3) is available on your iPhone. Would you like to download and update your iPhone now?”
I then came across Apple’s release notes and listed a summary of visual intelligence and notification summary (not applicable to iPhone 11) and relevance.
This update includes the following enhancements and bug fixes. The calculator repeats the last math operation when tapping the equal sign again. When starting a typed SIRI request Fixed an issue where the keyboard could disappear on the keyboard. Resolves an issue where audio playback continues until the song finishes even after closing Apple Music.”
The update was huge, weighing 8.25GB, took 2 minutes to download, then a few minutes later, backed up my iPhone and then installed the software. A few minutes later I checked the build number again and updated it to 22D64, a special version of the iPhone 11. Incidentally, I have checked whether I can convince my iPhone 16 Pro Max to my Mac and update it to a new build number, but that’s not the case. This confirms that this build number is only for the iPhone 11 series.
Apple has yet to provide details on why the iPhone 11 series is getting this additional version, but the bug issue appears to be the most likely reason. Some users on Reddit have mentioned variously about reporting Safari destruction and mail issues, but neither has been confirmed by Apple.
The original update was released on Monday, January 27th with build number 22d63. However, on Monday, February 3rd, Apple released iOS 18.3 with a new build number 22d64. You don’t need to know this unless you have one of the iPhone 11 series phones that first released in the fall of 2019. New version.
Apple has not proceeded with details about what’s in it. We know what’s not included in it: many Apple Intelligence that iOS 18.3 brings to the latest iPhone changes. Only the iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, and iPhone 16 series are compatible with Apple Intelligence.
Therefore, the new version is most likely to be there to fix things that weren’t taken at all in the first release. This is the only iPhone 11 series that has kept finding problems in some way.
The notes only show that other iPhones have fixed in the latest updates, namely these three things. First, you’ve done the calculator app before, but this time you tap on the sign that can be done again and repeat the last math operation. Secondly, fix an issue where the keyboard could disappear when initiating a typed SIRI request. Third, this update resolves the issue of audio playback continuing until the song finishes, even after closing Apple Music. Something strange like that, that.
If you have an iPhone 11 series, Apple recommends installing this new version, even if you have already upgraded to iOS 18.3. As the similarity of the build numbers suggests, it is very close to the last one, and this time we will fix things, let’s hope.
