Republished on January 13th with details on where and how much you can get a refurbished iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Apple has different sales strategies for regular iPhone and Pro devices. The regular model will be on sale for a few years, but if you want the Pro, you’ll have to buy it within 12 months of launch, after which it will no longer be sold. . But Apple just sold the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max on its refurbished site in some countries, and at up to 15% less. So why did Apple make this move so unexpectedly early? What does it mean for countries that have not yet resumed sales?

Currently, these countries do not include the US or UK, but refurbished 15 Pro models are available from several Apple online stores, including Spain, Germany, France, Italy, and Switzerland.
For example, on the Spanish site, a titanium black iPhone 15 Pro with 128GB storage is on sale for 949 euros ($971), a savings of 170 euros compared to the original list price of 1,119 euros. As is often the case with Apple’s refurbished products, not all colors are available; in this case, only the black model is available. The 256GB and 512GB storage options are also back in black, priced at €1,059, a saving of €190, and €1,269, a saving of €230, respectively.
Please note that the 256GB model is not available in Spain at the time of posting, so these iPhones may not be in large stock. Similarly, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the only iPhone other than the 2024 class that is compatible with Apple Intelligence, is available refurbished for 240 euros off the original price. This means the price has been reduced from 1,599 euros to 1,359 euros, making it the full price. 15% reduction. This is for the 512GB storage model and is also black in color.
Naturally, stock varies by country, so the Apple website in Germany has the 512GB iPhone 15 Pro on sale for €1,259 (€10 less than in Spain), but no other Pro configurations, but the iPhone 15 Pro Max has more options. The 256GB storage model is available at 1,129 euros, a 200 euro discount from the previous price of 1,329 euros, which is also 15% off. The French website has just one refurbished 15 Pro series, the iPhone 15 Pro Max with 512GB, reduced by €240 from €1,609 to €1,369.
The fact that it’s currently available on these European sites suggests that a US release may not be too far away.
For reference, this is much earlier in the cycle than last year. The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max re-introduced in May 2024, a full four months after this year.
So why so early? Well, a few days ago, there were only two iPhones (iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus) in refurbished stores in EU countries. This was due to a law that says mobile phones without a USB-C connector cannot be sold there, whether new or refurbished. . As a result, the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, and iPhone SE were suddenly withdrawn from sale in 27 EU countries, plus Switzerland and Northern Ireland, part of the United Kingdom. This move will make two new devices available at lower prices.
It also means two more phones capable of running Apple Intelligence will be sold in preparation for the feature’s rollout in Europe in the spring.
