On Wednesday, Adobe released the first public version of its artificial intelligence tool that can generate video clips, revealing the amount of charge, but said it would not set pricing for major users such as studios until later this year .
The Firefly video model that Adobe calls the service competes with Sora, a model developed by ChatGpt Creator Openai and Startup Runway. Both currently offer video generation services. Facebook owner Meta Platforms has also developed a video-generating AI model, but no timeline is provided as to when it will be released.
Adobe’s models differ from their rivals as they are directed at generating clips that fit the way film and television studios use the flagship video editing software Premiere Pro.
To that end, many features highlighted that Adobe will supply existing shots to the video model and ask them to generate clips that modify or expand shots taken on the actual production set. But that was not correct at all.
Adobe said the service generates 5-second clips at 1080p resolution. This is shorter than the clips up to 20 seconds generated by Openai’s services, but Adobe executives said that the majority of individual clips for most of the pieces are only 3 seconds.

Adobe said users can generate 20 clips a month for $9.99 and 70 clips for $29.99. This is compared to 50 videos at $20 per month, compared to Openai’s lower resolution plans with the $200 Openai plan that can handle longer, higher resolution videos.
Adobe is also working on “premium” pricing plans for studios and other large numbers of video users, and will publish details about those pricing later this year. Alexandru Costin, vice president of Adobe’s Generative AI, said the company is working on generating 4K videos and will continue to focus on quality rather than long clips.
“We actually think big movements, great structures, great definition schemes and making real clips look like movies is more important than making longer clips that are not usable,” Costin told Reuters. He spoke.
