The charming French actress Genevieve Page, who has starred in films such as Belle des Jours, El Cid and Sherlock Holmes’ personal life, died Friday. She was 97 years old.

Page passed away at his home in Paris. Granddaughter actress Zoé Guillemaud told AFP news agency.

Over a career of over 50 years, Page has appeared in other notable films, including Fanfan La Tulip (1952). Foreign Conspiracy (1956), across from Robert Mitchum. Silken Incident (1956), David Niven. John Frankenheimer’s Grand Prix (1966); Mayerling (1968), directed by Terence Young. Charles Vidor’s song Without End (1960).

In 1967, Spanish director Louis Buñuel was cast as Madame Anas, the owner and operator of Belle des Jours’ luxury brothel, an adaptation of Joseph Kessel’s 1928 novel. .

The film focuses on Severine Ceregy (Katherine DeNuve) to bring her to prostitution, but as a result, the page only goes “Belle The nickname “de’ Jours” has been translated into “Beauty of the Day.” . ”

Mrs. Anais is a strict, nonsense woman, with hints of fascination with DeNuve’s character, and the film gives a very short kiss between the two. Page was nominated for a supporting actress by the National Film Critics Association for her work, and the drama won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.

A year ago, Page played a brief role in the Grand Prix (1966) as an estranged wife who refuses to grant divorce to Ferrari driver Giampierre Salti (Yvemonta).

The medieval Italian-American epic Elcido (1961) saw Page cast in full as Skeming Princess Urlaka. Starring Charlton Heston and Sofia Lauren, the film ran over three hours with overtures and breaks, costing $6 million. “Amazing adventures, a great love story, a great star,” the trailer declared.

In the early 1970s, director Billy Wilder released Sherlock Holmes’s personal life, Robert Stevens portrayed the famous detective and Colin Blakeley portrayed Dr. Watson. Page plays a mysterious Belgian client who asks Holmes to find the missing engineer husband.

The film’s production stopped after a 30-foot lake Ness Monster model that sank into the lake while being towed behind the boat.

“We lost the Loch Ness monster, but he (Wilder) didn’t seem to be too worried, despite him being a producer and director,” said Page in 1969. He told the Times. We comfort and comfort the man who created it and the man who was angry at its disappearance. ”

The giant prop was discovered 47 years later during a sonar investigation lying on the seabed.

She was born Genevieve Bonjean on December 13, 1927 in Paris. Her father, Jacques Paul Bonjean, was an art dealer and collector who opened the gallery in collaboration with Christian Dior.

One of her early screen appearances appeared in the French adventure Fanfan La Tulip, starring Gina Rollobrigida and starring Gerald Philip as the character in the title. In the film, Page is rescued from a group of bandits by a swashbuckling, rescued from a recruit fan fan in the roguish army, and offers him a tulip as a thank you.

Her film resume also included Black Comedy Buffet Floyd (1979), Claude Miller’s Fatal Circuit (1983), and Robert Altman’s Beyond Therapy (1987).

Page also appeared in Petra von Kant’s Bitter Tears in 1980 and won the Molière Award in Colombé in 1996.

She was married to businessman Jean Claude Boujade from 1959 until her death in 2011.
