Dreamworks Animation and Universal Family Movie Dog Dog has no trouble staying at the box office for the second weekend. There will be a new $13.7 million offering from 3,886 theaters, Heart Eyes Heart Eyes and Love Super Bowl Scrap fight.
This will make Dog Man’s domestic total comfortable at $54.1 million by Sunday (PIC will cost a modest $40 million or so production).
Super Bowl weekend has always been a challenge for Hollywood studios since the film rankings were dramatically silent on the day of the big game (this year’s championship game will be the last year when Kansas City Chiefs face off against the Philadelphia Eagles last year (Looking at Victor). Films targeting young women and genre titles are appealing to younger audiences, making them a favorite go-to in terms of films that will boldly open on Super Bowl weekend.
Heart Eyes, a Valentine’s Day-themed rom-com for Sony’s Screen Gems and Spyglass, narrowly topped Friday’s charts for $36.6 million, followed by the expected dogs from 3,102 theaters, ranging from $8.5 million to $10 million. They are about to open second behind Mann.
The film revolves around a masked murderer – yes, the mask is in the shape of a heart – moves from city to city to find a couple to kill on February 14th. And Olivia Holt.
With decent reviews, Heart Eyes didn’t do much with the viewers.

Universal’s Love Hurts opens third in the expected $6 million from 3,200 theatres. The action photo revolves around seemingly ordinary real estate agents trying to overtake his violent past, with Oscar-winning actors Daniel Wu, Ariana DeBoss and Marshawn Lynch He has acquired actor Ke Hui Quang at once across from the film. The diverse cast also includes former NFL running back and Super Bowl champion Marshawn “Beast Mode” Lynch.
David Letch of the John Wick franchise is one of the film’s producers.
Critics beat the film, and audiences gave C+ Cinemascore.
Produced by Kelly McCormick and Leitch of 87 North, Love Hurts was written by Matthew Murray and is steered by Jojo Eusebio in his directorial debut.

Disney’s Thanksgiving Mfasa: The Lion King is held on No. 8 on its eighth weekend and is expected to win a total of $4.2 million for the $235 million domestic cume from 2,945 theatres.
To say there is a lot of content in a genre is an understatement. Photos of Newline and Warner Bros.’ SF companions appeared fifth in the second weekend, with an estimated $3.4 million totaling $16.2 million in the country over the 10-day period.
