Oslo, Norway (AP) — Former NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said Tuesday that he has returned to government in his hometown of Norway as finance minister.

Stoltenberg has been leading NATO since 2014 and handed over to current Secretary-General Marclatte at the beginning of October. Before leading NATO, Stoltenberg was Norway’s prime minister.

His term at NATO has been repeatedly extended to maintain the helm after Russia launched a full-scale Ukraine invasion in 2022, blocking Stoltenberg’s plans to take over as head of Norway’s central bank. did.

He returned to the government last week after the Norwegian Operating Coalition announced its departure from its junior partner Centre Party.

As a result, current Prime Minister Jonas Gar Store is the leader of the Central Left Labour Party in Stoltenberg, and retired finance minister Trigwe Slag, leader of the Centre Party, to fill several cabinet positions. It was buried within Svold Vedham.

Stoltenberg and Gahr Støre appeared together at an event held in Oslo on Tuesday. There, the Prime Minister was introducing a new team, but Gahr Støre did not explicitly mention Stoltenberg’s new job.

However, in a statement released by the Munich Security Conference in Germany, which Stoltenberg was due to take over soon, Stoltenberg said, “I am very honored to be asked to help my country at this important stage. I think so.”

“After carefully considering the current challenges we face, I have decided to accept his demands for service as finance minister,” he said. “I will return to my security conference in Munich and other responsibilities once my tenure is over. I am grateful for the decision to temporarily release me from my duties while serving my country again. ”
