‘Sonic 3’ box office revenue exceeds $150 million by New Year’s Eve
“Sonic 3,” directed by Jeff Fowler, will enter its third weekend tomorrow after a two-week theatrical release. The film, starring Jim Carrey and Ben Schwartz, topped $62 million in its first weekend in North America. Paramount’s animated film saw a surge in collections over Christmas, reaching $88 million.
Released in 3,761 theaters, Sonic 3 has grossed over $150 million through December 31, 2024. The action-adventure comedy film should cross $155 million on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

Sonic 3 is targeting $225 million. It will be the biggest movie in the Sonic series.
Sonic 3 is currently on track to gross $225 million by the end of its theatrical run, which would be great business. If the threequel achieves its goals, it will be the biggest movie in the Sonic series.
If that happens, director Jeff Fowler’s collection will likely be higher than the previous Sonic movies “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” and “Sonic the Hedgehog.” The 2022 film grossed $190 million in the domestic market, while the original film collected $148 million during its 2020 release.
In North America, Sonic 3 is leading the race and will edge out rival Mufasa: The Lion King by a narrow margin.
