Gal Gadot revealed that she underwent emergency surgery after developing a “massive” blood clot in her brain eight months into her pregnancy.
The Wonder Woman star shared details of a devastating health emergency that occurred earlier this year in a post to her official Instagram account. “In February, eight months into my pregnancy, I was diagnosed with a massive blood clot in my brain,” Gadot wrote. “For weeks, I endured excruciating headaches that kept me in bed, until an MRI scan revealed the horrifying truth. In one moment, my family and I realized just how fragile life is. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change, and in the midst of a difficult year, all I wanted to do was endure and live. That was all.”
Gadot continued, “We rushed to the hospital and had emergency surgery within hours. My daughter, Ori, was born in that moment of anxiety and fear. “My light.” Her name, which means , was not chosen by chance. Before the surgery, I told Jaron that when my daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel. ”
The Heart of Stone star gave birth to her fourth daughter, Oli, with Jaron Varsano in early March. In the post, she thanked the staff and doctors at Cedars-Sinai Hospital, adding, “I have made a full recovery and am so grateful for the life I was given.”
Gadot said she wanted to share her “personal story” to “pull back the curtain on the vulnerable reality behind the select moments we share on social media.” .
“This journey has taught me so much,” Gadot wrote. “First, it’s important to listen to our bodies and trust what they’re telling us. Pain, discomfort, or even slight changes often have deep meaning and Being in tune with your body can save lives.”
“Secondly, awareness is important. I didn’t know that 3 out of 100,000 pregnant women over 30 are diagnosed with CVT (a disease that causes blood clots in the brain). It is a treatable disease, so early detection is very important. Although rare, it is possible, and knowing that it exists can help you deal with it. My goal in sharing this is not to scare anyone, but to empower them. If this story has inspired you to take action for your health. If there’s even one person out there, it’s worth sharing.”
