Not sure what to watch right now? Hulu has a wide range of critically acclaimed classics and new releases. From new comedies like Shift Gear starring Kat Dennings and Tim Allen to the award-winning Shogun, the options are endless.

Whether you’re looking for a quick laugh or some emotional drama, we’ve curated a must-watch list of some of the best series that might pique your interest.

6 Best Shows to Watch on Hulu in January 2025

1. High fidelity

Based on the novel by Nick Hornby, this Hulu original rewrites the main character as Robin, played by Zoe Kravitz. Using a new perspective without losing its original foundations, this series develops ideas of love, music, and self-development.

2. General

A 10-episode adaptation of James Clavell’s novel, the film plunges into Japan in the turbulent 1600s and depicts the battle of the powerful Lord Toranaga to assert control amid civil war. The arrival of the British brings an unexpected twist to the power struggle.

3. Only murders inside the building.

This true crime-meets-comedy film follows Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) as they investigate an apartment complex where a mysterious murder has occurred. So far, season 3 has aired, and it will continue to attract the attention of mystery buffs.

4. Small beautiful things

If you miss Kathryn Hahn after Agatha All Along, watch her slay as Claire in Tiny Beautiful Things. She plays a beleaguered advice columnist, a role that is both emotionally and humorously tumultuous. Using this book as inspiration from Cheryl Strayed, the show deftly integrates drama and humor.

5. The Great

A satirical historical comedy-drama that focuses on Catherine the Great and her rise to the throne. Elle Fanning plays Catherine, and Nicholas Hoult plays Peter III of Russia or Emelyan Pugachev.

6. Pam and Tommy

Delve into the scandalous leak of Pamela Anderson (Lily James) and Tommy Lee (Sebastian Stan)’s sex tape in this provocative biopic from the early days of the Internet.

These were some of the best shows to binge-watch on Hulu this January after an eventful holiday season.
