5 new releases you can’t miss on Netflix, Hulu, and Peacock

The end of the year turns out to be a very light period when it comes to new streaming releases from major platforms. Aside from a few high-profile releases, such as the long-awaited new season of Squid Games, there aren’t a ton of new releases to preview as usual. Almost all streamers have emptied their pipelines for this year. Stay ahead of what will happen in 2025.

But that doesn’t mean there won’t be some streaming fun next week. This article lists five new releases from Netflix, Hulu, and Peacock worth watching over the next seven days. And we’ll start with the biggest streaming giant, which has three of the most exciting releases out there.

The late Swedish DJ and producer Avicii is about to get the emotional documentary treatment he deserves. From my preview of this Netflix release, I will be pairing it with a performance video of his last show in Ibiza. “Tim Bergling, the DJ and producer who shook the music world as Avicii, always sounded timeless and moving. It’s still hard to think of him in the past tense.

“It has been nearly seven years since his death in April 2018, but for many of his fans, Avicii’s music remains a constant light that, in his own words, continues to drive them underground. We’re pulling them out and helping them.” We move through the darkness. Now, a new Netflix documentary, Avicii — I’m Tim, has been released, giving fans old and new the chance to reconnect with an artist who defined a generation of electronic dance music. ”

Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan fans will be extremely excited about this next film, even if they haven’t realized it yet. Interstellar, one of the director’s best films, will be available on Netflix on New Year’s Day. Starring Matthew McConaughey, the film is a sci-fi masterpiece that has been hailed as one of the most visually and emotionally stunning films of the 21st century.

In the film, McConaughey plays Cooper, a farmer who is recruited on a mission to save humanity after it becomes clear that the Earth is dying. As a result, scientists travel through wormholes in search of new habitable planets. It may sound far-fetched, but what continues to set Interstellar apart in the science fiction field is its incredible attention to scientific detail.

For example, famous astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson had a lot to say about this movie when he announced his ranking list of science fiction movies. For example, he praised Interstellar, which ranked on his list for having “the most authentic physics.” Compared to other movies ever made.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame exists, and while I continue to be dissatisfied with the musicians who have been given the honor compared to the artists who deserve it, here is a list of this year’s inductees: If you want to say that you’re like Mary, J. Blige, Cher, Kool & the Gang, A Tribe Called Quest, you’re in luck.

You can watch a synopsis of the actual ceremony that took place in October on Hulu. The rest of us will be waiting to do this all over again. The announcement of the 2025 Hall of Fame inductees will once again ignore deserving artists in favor of random musicians who are as connected to rock music as you and I are. Lunt concluded.

This next new streaming release coming out next week is another high-end drama from Peacock, which continues to punch above its weight when it comes to well-written, star-studded original series. Lockerbie: A Search for Truth is a new collaborative project between Peacock and Sky. I might add that it’s the same combination that produced one of the best series of 2024, The Day of the Jackal.

This new Peacock drama starring Colin Firth dramatizes the events surrounding one of the worst terrorist attacks in British history. This five-episode geopolitical thriller recreates the explosion of Pan Am Flight 103 over the Scottish town of Lockerbie in December 1988, killing all 259 people on board as well as Lockerbie residents. Eleven people died. Firth will play Dr. Jim Swire, who has been chosen to represent British victims’ families. “This is amazing and heartbreaking,” raved one commenter attached to the YouTube trailer below. “It’s just an emotional masterpiece. And as for Colin Firth, of course I’m all in.”
