The Israel Defense Forces announced that it had recorded 32 drones launched from Yemen. More than 100 drones have been shot down by Israeli air defense systems and fighter jets.

The Israeli Air Force has shot down three drones belonging to the Yemeni Houthi militia. The Israeli military announced that the drone was shot down on January 9th. The Iranian-backed Houthi militia has targeted Israel extensively in recent days.
Of the three drones launched from Yemen, only one successfully penetrated Israeli territory, two of which were shot down. The attack came shortly after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released data on missiles and drones launched from Yemen after the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel.
Earlier, the IDF announced that the Houthi militia had launched 40 ballistic missiles and more than 320 drones toward Israel since October 7, 2023. The IDF said Israel’s Iron Dome air defense system stopped most of the 40 ballistic missiles.

Earlier this week, the Israel Defense Forces shot down a missile fired by the Houthi militia. The Houthis have announced they are targeting Israel’s Orot Rabin power plant.
