Apple iPhone supplier Wistron has approved an initial investment of $20 million in one of its subsidiaries to build a new factory line in Karnataka, laying the foundation to support an upcoming laptop manufacturing plant in India. I did.

Both companies are wholly owned subsidiaries of Wistron. The board of directors had previously approved a total investment of $40 million to set up an after-sales production line.
Industry experts say ICT’s new production facility will provide warranty repair services, inventory management and logistics solutions for Wistron’s laptop manufacturing operations. ICT specializes in parts sourcing and could help Wistron source parts for laptop manufacturing from domestic and global suppliers, he added. According to the company’s website, ICT Service Management Solutions specializes in printed circuit board L3 repair for notebooks and personal computers.
In January, Wistron signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Karnataka government to set up a laptop manufacturing plant in the state. The company has invested Rs 1,500 crore in this facility and plans to export more than 50% of its production. It was previously reported that construction was expected to begin in July and that production of the laptops would begin by January 2026.
Recently, Wistron acquired a 32-acre land parcel for a high-tech defense and aerospace park in Karnataka’s Devanahalli district for Rs 160 million. The new after-sales production line will be located near the laptop manufacturing facility.
In October 2023, Tata Group acquired 100% of Wistron Infocomm Manufacturing (India)’s factory in Karnataka from SMS Infocomm (Singapore) and Wistron Hong Kong Limited for $131 million (over Rs 1,000 crore). announced that it would be acquired. After exiting the iPhone assembly business, Wistron continues to operate in India through three subsidiaries: ICT Service Management Solutions, Smartiply India, and Wistron Automotive Electronics (India). While ICT Service Management Solutions focuses on import/export, service and maintenance operations, Smartiply India develops internet platforms and IoT related products. Wistron Automotive Electronics, on the other hand, specializes in the manufacturing, research and development, and design of automotive electronics and related products.
