Veteran investor Mark Mobius sees India as a strong investment hub due to growth, reforms and declining support from China under Trump 2.0.
He stressed that a weaker rupee will benefit export-oriented companies like Infosys and boost their global competitiveness. Many Indian companies that generate revenue in US dollars are expected to grow.
Mobius predicts that the rupee could fall further to 86 rupees by the end of the year on the back of a strong dollar and India’s trade deficit.
However, he remains optimistic about India’s economic potential, reforms and high-value market opportunities.
He sees India as a “natural choice” for manufacturing after China, and expects less red tape in the U.S. under the Trump administration and more opportunities.
Mobius recommends export-driven sectors and consumer industries such as housing and fast-moving consumer goods, citing rising per capita income and China’s increased competitiveness against exporters. He personally aims to invest 50% in India.
