If you’re a software engineer, an indie hacker, or a startup founder who was touring with AI agents like Replit’s Ghostwriter, Cognition’s Devin, or Lovable’s Smart Terminal last year, Openai has joined the game again. Over the weekend, Openai deployed Codex, a cloud-based software engineering agent that looks like the future of development.
