Lindy Lee, a major fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee, has left the Democratic Party, citing internal issues and a backlash over criticism of U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. After leaving the party, Lee accused the party of wasting “hard-earned money” and billions of dollars during the presidential campaign. She also questioned payments made to TV host Oprah Winfrey through her production company, and in recent media appearances described her departure as a “departure from a cult.”
“Leaving the Cult”
Mr Lee explained the negative reaction he faced within the party during recent media appearances and announced his decision to leave the party.
“This past week has been miserable for me,” Lee said in an interview with Fox News’ Piers Morgan. “Saturday, I went on Fox & Friends and said, ‘The Democratic Party smells like a loser.’ As soon as I said that, the boycott movement against me, the unblocking movement. There was a movement to unfollow people and unfollow people.”
She reported that she lost a significant amount of her social media followers after voicing her opinions and supporting Republican Pete Hegseth.
“I lost tens of thousands of followers because I dared to tell the truth,” Lee said. “You can’t tell the truth or ask questions in a cult, but that’s over.”
In an interview, Lee compared leaving the Democratic Party to “leaving a cult,” saying, “It’s like leaving a cult.”
Lindy questions Democratic Party’s use of funds
Lee criticized Harris and Biden, questioning their leadership and political strategy. “They essentially burned $2.5 billion…We still don’t have an answer as to why billionaire Oprah got $2.5 million through her production company.”
Lee also expressed concern about the money spent on Al Sharpton. “Then they spent $500,000 in bribes, essentially, in the moments before Al Sharpton interviewed her. And this is our hard-earned money. This is my It’s money you’ve earned through hard work.”
“My donors are angry.”
Lee elaborated further, saying, “My donors are angry…It’s my responsibility to ask what the hell happened with their money…These are legitimate questions, but no, within a cult there are no questions asked. You can’t do that, and you have to leave the Democratic Party or else.” Even questioning the Democrats is like leaving a cult, and I don’t want to be a part of this madness any longer. ”
She blamed the Democratic Party itself for alienating her and other prominent fundraisers.
“They’re downsizing their tent. They’re basically forcing me to take the tens of millions of dollars I’ve raised to another team that’s going to treat me better, who’s going to treat me with decency. .”
Oprah denies receiving money from Harris
Oprah Winfrey previously denied receiving personal compensation or $1 million for participating in Kamala Harris’ campaign events.
In September, Winfrey interviewed Harris at a Unite for America rally in Michigan. The event featured virtual appearances from Hollywood stars such as Jennifer Lopez and Meryl Streep, and drew hundreds of thousands of viewers.
“They call me a spy.”
Ms Lee was accused of working as a “communist spy”, a charge she said she found extremely offensive given her family’s history.
“They call me a spy for the regime that killed my great-grandfather. They call themselves social justice warriors,” she told Morgan. “Every time someone tries to go against them, they go straight to racism. I argue that men should be men, women should be women, and men shouldn’t play in women’s sports. I want to be part of a team that does that.”
She criticized the Democratic Party, saying, “These so-called Democrats, the party of inclusion, the party of diversity, are all wearing masks. And it’s even worse because they pretend to occupy the moral high ground. They are very affectionate and pretend to be very affectionate.” I’ve always respected and embraced diversity, and yet when I dare to criticize Goddess Kamala Harris, even though I’ve raised tens of millions of dollars for my party, I’m suddenly ostracized. ”
Will Lee attend President Trump’s inauguration?
Lee claimed that President-elect Donald Trump’s allies treated her more “humanely” than her former partisans.
She announced her intention to attend President Trump’s inauguration in January 2025 and to work with organizations she considers to have “common sense.”
Lee added, “People on Trump’s team have already contacted me to ask if I’d be willing to convert. So I’m not an orphan, right? And people… I know that they are actively recruiting me,” he added.
