Most people who follow the NFL know that Patrick Mahomes is a junior. His dad, Pat Mahomes, was a pretty good baseball player. He pitched for 11 years in the twins Red Sox and Mets big leagues. Rangers, Cubs, Pirates.
When dad pitches in the big leagues, they can only be around the game. You run on the field, go to the clubhouse and attend more than just a few games. You could also try to pick up the ball and pitch like your dad.
Mike Hampton was asked about the photo this week as the 5-year-old is preparing for another Super Bowl appearance.
Hampton imagined Mahomes being a shortstop like Derek Jeter or an outfielder like Ken Griffey Jr. Hampton.
Better than he says
“I wish I had gotten a little better with baseball, but I think it all worked with soccer. I grew up loving baseball. I still love it.”
In fact, the younger Mahomes was pretty good in his hands, and he didn’t even have his bat rags in his hands. His fastballs were clicked well in the 60 feet, 6 inches from the 90s.
In one high school match, Mahomes threw a no-hitter three times at the plate, 4-3, and threw a no-hitter with 16 strikeouts while nearly hitting the cycle. He outperformed the future big leaguers in it!

He was the first team class 4A all-state choice by the Texas Sports Writers Association, and was eventually drafted in round 37 by the Detroit Tigers.
Eventually, Mahomes began leaving baseball behind at Texas Tech. He played one season for the Red Raiders baseball team. He had only two batters as a pinch hitter and made one appearance as a relief pitcher.
Arod’s bad advice
Baseball great Alex Rodriguez, another teammate of Mahomes’ dad, Patrick, tried to direct the entertainment of the nation:
“Patrick, there’s no future in soccer. You’re a baseball player,” Rodriguez said in an old interview he posted on Instagram. “Man, are you happy that he didn’t listen to me?”
Many football fans hope he had. There are a few more Super Bowl Championship teams as Mahome refuses to share them as NFL stars.
