Turkish President Recept Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday (February 13, 2025). He said that, taking full consideration of the Kashmir people’s aspirations, the Kashmir issue should be resolved through a dialogue between India and Pakistan.
During the two-day visit, Erdogan, who is in Pakistan, made a comment after Prime Minister Shebaz Sharif and one-on-one delegation discussed.
Leaders also witnessed a signing ceremony for the 24 agreements and a memorandum between the two sides.
Following this, they read a media statement and expressed their determination to strengthen the connections on both sides, during which Erdogan also spoke about the issue of Kashmir.
“The issue of Kashmir should be addressed in accordance with the UN resolutions through dialogue and with the aspirations of the Kashmir people in mind,” Erdogan said.
“Our state and our country are in solidarity with today’s Kashmir brothers, just like in the past,” he added.
India has repeatedly emphasized that the Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are, and that “forever” remains an integral part of the country.
After India abolished Article 370 of the Constitution, the ties between the two countries revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and diverged the state into two union territories on August 5, 2019.
In his statement, President Erdogan also expressed a strong interest in promoting relations with Pakistan. “In the seventh session of the council, which we just concluded, we agreed to further strengthen our relationship,” he said.
“Within the framework of this visit, we have signed a total of 24 agreements and Mous in the areas of science, banking, education, defense and trade, agriculture, energy, culture, family and social services. Health.”
Speaking on the occasion, Shebaz said Pakistan is the second home of Turkish leaders and added that it would be great to see him return in five years.
“The people of Pakistanis are very happy to visit your brother’s country with your delegation today and meet you,” he said.
He thanked Trukiye, who was standing in Pakistan “thick and thin” during earthquakes and floods. “Today’s visit to Pakistan has given us a new level of our brotherhood,” Shebaz said.
The Prime Minister and President Asif Ali Zardari received Mr Erdogan at the air base in Nur Khan when they arrived early in the morning.
The Turkish president was accompanied by first lady Emin Erdogan and a delegation of investors and business leaders.
A formal welcome ceremony was held in honor of Erdogan at the Prime Minister’s house. He was also praised for the F-16 fighter flypust.
Mr. Erdogan and Mr. Shebaz also planted seedlings at the PM home.
Army Chief of Staff Asim Munir also met with Mr. Erdogan and extended his greeting on his visit.
