President Donald Trump’s lead FBI leader Kash Patel is a director who won the approval of the Republican-controlled U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday, calling for a radical restructuring of the country’s finest law enforcement agencies Clear the voting path to confirm agency.

In a 12-10 party vote, the panel approved Patel’s nomination despite deep reservations by Democrats who said they were not worthy of leading the bureau.

“If we put Kash Patel in this job, we’re bringing political disasters,” said Dick Durbin, the panel’s top Democrat.

Iowa Republican, Senate Committee Chairman Charles Grassley, said Patel was thoroughly examined and exposed him to a “relentless attack on his character” throughout the confirmation process.

Patel’s nomination is yet to be scheduled for Senate debate and full votes.

A fierce Trump loyalty, Patel has previously called for the FBI’s Washington headquarters to be shut down forever, and false conspiracy theory suggesting he was involved in the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021 I repeatedly pushed.

Patel pledged during a hearing confirming that he would not seek political retaliation against FBI employees.

However, shortly after his confirmation hearing was over, a senior Trump Justice Department official fired eight senior career FBI employees and handed over the FBI a list of all employees who worked on the January 6 investigation. Ordered, and the department “can see if we can see if we can see additional personnel. Action is needed.”

This demand creates fear among FBI agents, bringing two lawsuits against the Department of Justice to ensure that officials and employees are not at risk by publicly revealing their names. I urged him to do so.

On Friday, the Justice Department reached an agreement with the plaintiffs in these two cases and agreed not to disclose their names without notice for at least 48 hours.

Earlier this week, Durbin asked the Department of Justice’s internal watchdog to investigate. This is after whistleblowers put forward evidence suggesting that Patel is overseeing FBI Purges behind the scenes.

Patel is one of the most vocal critics of Trump’s investigations, portraying them as the work of “deep states” law enforcement and intelligence reporting agencies that succumbed to undermining the president.

Patel, former aide to then Republican Chairman of the Intelligence Election Committee, Devin Nunes, was at the forefront of a Congressional investigation into handling the FBI investigation into contact between the 2016 presidential campaign and Russia. .

Before working at Capitol Hill, he worked at the Department of Justice counterterrorism for about three years.

He also briefly worked as Director of the National Intelligence Bureau, the Office of the National Security Council, and finally the Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Defense.

Since leaving the government after the first Trump administration, Patel has been involved in many foreign companies and businesses, including the Qatar Embassy, Czechoslovak Group, a Czech Republic-based arms dealer, and the parent company of Chinese clothing manufacturers. I’ve done a transaction. To his financial disclosures that were not made public until after his confirmation hearing.

Patel’s disclosure indicates that it ended consulting in Qatar in the second half of 2024.

Nonprofit public citizens filed a complaint with the Department of Justice, asking them to register as a foreigner and confirm whether they did not.

“If a private work on behalf of Kash Patel’s Qatar embassy is confirmed to be at the forefront of the FBI, it is ethically and within the greatest interests of the US national security interests. I’ll raise a red flag about his abilities.”

In his disclosure, Patel also indicated that he holds uninvested restricted stock in Shane and does not have any immediate plans to sell it.
