A month after the death of India’s top couturier Rohit Bal, a fight has erupted over who should have left his assets. Rohit’s close friend and former model Lalit Tehran claims that the will in Rohit’s possession covers a significant portion of his life, while Rohit’s younger brother Rajiv Bal claims that they also have no will. However, he says he has no knowledge of the will that Lalit Tehran is talking about. So what exactly are these two strange will cases?
Lalit, who was seen with Rohit at almost every event, said, “Rohit owns 99% of Rohit Bal Designs and 1% belongs to Billa (Rajiv Bal).” he said. A company must have two directors. Most of the assets are owned by the company. Most of his personal and immovable assets, including his personal home, personal bank accounts, and fixed deposits, will be delivered to me. ”
He also revealed that Rohit Bal had given significant sums of money to employees such as cooks and drivers for their years of service to the company, and other details were not disclosed in the will. He added that the information will not be made public soon.
“I have seen (Lalit’s) will and it appears to meet the criteria for a valid will as required by Indian law,” said Gurmukh Chaudhry, Lalit Tehran’s lawyer. Ta. The rest will be decided by Indian courts. ”
When we contacted Rajiv about Lalit’s claims, he said, “I don’t know what you are talking about…we have a will too. Until I see the will (with Lalit), I can’t say anything about it.” Rakesh, another brother Mr. Bal was unable to comment as he was unwell, but his wife Anila Bal said on the phone: I’m not aware of it. However, Rajiv’s lawyer Abhinav Vashisht said, “I know everything (about their wills), but as I am a family member and a lawyer, I don’t want to comment.”
Although HT City could not independently confirm the existence of either will, Sunil Sethi, chairman of the Fashion Design Council of India, was appointed as executor along with Lalit.
He said: “I respect the trust placed in me by Rohit Bal by appointing me as executor of his will. I have been informed about this by my lawyer and Lalit Tehran and will receive this information. I immediately called Rohit Bal’s brother (Rajiv) and told him about the will. At first he was in disbelief, which I understand is a natural reaction, but I can confirm the information. I told him the name of the lawyer. I have yet to see the will, even though Lalit and his lawyer insisted on seeing it, even during the family’s medical emergency at the hospital. I believe they met for the purpose of this, but I have not been informed. For my part, I will try to ensure that due process of law is followed and I will do my best to honor Mr. Rohit Bal. As for the beneficiary, his wishes should take precedence.”
A witness who testified about the suicide note in Lalit’s possession and asked to remain anonymous said: I’ve known him for many years. When he told us about the will, a first draft was drawn up and submitted to him. He was very particular about grammar and the language used there. He made changes and asked for another draft. When the autograph was being signed, I was in the room with 4-5 members and a photographer was also present. ”
Rohit Bal, one of India’s most acclaimed designers, passed away on November 1 at the age of 63 due to a long history of heart disease. His properties include two floors of the Defense Colony in Delhi, a factory in Noida, land and an art collection, all worth billions.
