Telangana delegation calls on Singapore’s semiconductor industry to invest in the country

A Telangana delegation led by IT Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu held a roundtable discussion with the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) to outline the opportunities available in Telangana for the growth of the semiconductor industry.

The Minister explained the incentives being given and the vast talent pool available in Telangana during a brainstorming session where participants exchanged views on opportunities and scope in the state.

Several prominent leaders in the semiconductor industry attended the conference. Brian Tan, SSIA Chairman and Applied Materials Regional President; Tan Yew Kong, Vice Chairman, SSIA and Senior Vice President, GlobalFoundries Singapore; SSIA Director General, Mr. CS Chua, President and MD of Infineon Technologies Asia Pacific Ltd., were also among the attendees.

SSIA shared learnings, best practices and lessons from Singapore’s rapid rise and global consolidation in the semiconductor sector. Minister Sridhar Babu appealed to Singapore’s industry to invest in the country, explaining its salient features.

SSIA responded very enthusiastically and positively to Mr. Telangana’s invitation. The big team will visit Hyderabad later this year to explore opportunities there.
