STMicroelectronics has announced the ST67W611M1, the first result of its partnership with Qualcomm. This is an Internet of Things (IoT) communications coprocessor module that allows Qualcomm’s QCC743 multiprotocol connectivity chip to be easily used with any STM32 microcontroller or microprocessor.

“Our collaboration brings multiple benefits to the large community leveraging the STM32 family in embedded systems,” asserts STMicro’s Remi El-Ouazzane of the team-up between the two companies. “Qualcomm’s expertise in a highly influential and widely used wireless connectivity technology will be immediately available to product developers, leveraging the powerful software, tools, capabilities, and project acceleration that the STM32 development ecosystem offers. It is combined.”

Qualcomm’s Rahul Patel added, “This is just the beginning of our mission and we look forward to further successes that will enable new and advanced edge processing applications.” “We look forward to continuing our collaboration with STMicroelectronics to deliver unparalleled connectivity experiences with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AI (artificial intelligence), 5G and more.”

The ST67W611M1 module itself has a metal protective cover with STMicro logs, but inside is a Qualcomm QCC743 system-on-chip that supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 Low Energy (BLE), and IEEE 802.15.4 with Thread compatibility. Achieving connectivity. , plus support for Matter-over-Wi-Fi. There is 4MB of flash for code and data storage, and you can choose a PCB antenna or uFL connector as the external antenna.

However, this module is not built for standalone use. The idea is to connect to any of STMicro’s various STM32 microcontroller and microprocessor product lines and use it as a pre-qualified module to easily add wireless connectivity to any STM32 project. These are based on the company’s latest STM32N6 chip and are the first microcontrollers to feature in-house Neural-ART machine learning accelerators for edge AI workloads.

STMicro has confirmed that the ST67W611M1 is currently being sampled, with general availability scheduled for early 2025. Price has not yet been disclosed. More information available On the ST Micro website.
