Again, Apple has been able to save lives with its products and services. This time the hero is Siri. An older man from Florida is extremely grateful for Apple’s voice assistant. This is very grateful for saving his life as he fought alone in his home for survival for about two days after suffering a stroke. Siri helped him connect with his daughter. He called 911 to ensure that emergency services would reach his location at those critical times.
Siri supported Daniel Vallaire, 70, of Fort. Lauderdale, Florida, when connecting with her daughter via voice prompts. According to local news outlet WSVN, Vallaire experienced a stroke and fell on the bathroom floor. He couldn’t move and tried to crave to another room. He reportedly spent 48 hours lying on the bathroom floor. However, after calling the courage to crave into the living room, Valaire reached near his phone and urged Siri to call his daughter, who contacted emergency services.
“I said, ‘Ciri, call Victoria Valley,’ she did. If I had a landline, I wouldn’t have been able to get to it,” Valleyle told WSVN. “If this had happened without (siri), I wouldn’t be here,” he added.
Apple integrates Siri into all products, allowing users to activate the voice assistant with the simple command “Hey Siri”. The company recently updated the commands to allow users to activate Siri simply by saying “it’s a bit.” Users can also change their settings by going to Settings > Siri or Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri and tapping on Siri or Hey Siri.
To make Siri more conversational, Apple has also introduced an improved version of Siri. The new Siri was announced with the launch of iOS 18 and the introduction of Apple Intelligence. This new Siri includes a fresh look, improved conversation features, and even the ability to access information based on user prompts using ChatGpt.
According to Apple, the new Siri has better conversation features and can maintain the context of the user’s previous requests. Furthermore, conversations with Siri are said to be more natural and personal.
Meanwhile, apart from Siri, Apple specializes in health and emergency tools such as fall detection and AFIB detection to help users in emergencies. With the Apple Watch’s Fall detection feature, the device sends emergency notifications and connects with emergency services via the satellite system via emergency SOS as soon as it detects a user’s fall.
Meanwhile, the Apple Watch’s irregular rhythm notification feature alerts the user whenever the device detects irregular heartbeats that suggest atrial fibrillation (AFIB).
