Your iPhone may not be able to run Apple Intelligence
The latest system updates are for everyone on the iPhone XS and above, but that doesn’t mean that everyone gets Apple Intelligence. In fact, since much of AI calculations occurs on devices, only a handful of models can run new technologies.

Apple Intelligence also runs on Macs and iPads with M Series processors. iPad mini (Equipped with an A17 Pro chip).
If you have these models, calling Siri will give you a sparkling new look. On Mac, the Siri search field gets the same effect rather than the entire edge of the screen. If you have a different model, you will see the same Siri Orb.
Siri under iOS 18 looks similar to iOS 17 to many.
You may need to enable Apple Intelligence again
After the first Apple Intelligence features arrived on iOS 18.1, iPados 18.1, and Macos Sequoia 15.1, they didn’t automatically turn on. I had to sign up and wait hours or days to access.
The latest updates (iOS 18.3, iPados 18.3, and Macos Sequoia 15.3) have been automatically enabled for Apple Intelligence despite being considered a beta feature. If you’ve never signed up for a WaitList, or if this is your first jump from iOS 17 to iOS 18, for example, Apple Intelligence should be turned on and you should see a new Siri interface.
However, if your device has Apple Intelligence at some point I turned it offthe latest update will not make the switch playable again. Go to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri and make sure the Apple Intelligence toggle is turned on.
Please check your Siri language settings
Currently, Apple Intelligence is not available worldwide and only uses the English model. In Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri, make sure your language is set to one of the following:
English (Australia) English (Canada) English (Ireland) English (New Zealand) English (South Africa) English (UK) English (US)
As of iOS 18.3, the new SIRI feature is only supported in the language of your choice.
Furthermore, speaking to Siri in another language can be more fun than Duolingo if you switch language settings to something else – even if you choose one of the above English variations, the new Siri will automatically It won’t revert to. But there’s a simple fix. In Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri, turn off Apple Intelligence and turn it on again. Next, restart your iPhone. That re-download will load the required language model.
Support for other languages is scheduled for later this year. A footnote from Apple’s Apple Intelligence Page explains: “Additional features and languages will be available in April, with more languages and platforms coming into the year., Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese.”
