As highlighted by Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong in his recent address to the Indian business community, Singapore sees great potential in strengthening cooperation with India. Given India’s rapid growth trajectory, Singapore aims to step up its efforts in bilateral trade, skills training, emerging modern sectors such as fintech and the green economy.
Mr Lee, who has led Singapore for 20 years as Prime Minister, reaffirmed the importance of the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA), a vital trade agreement that enhances both trade and investment between the two countries. He urged Indian companies to take advantage of Singapore’s favorable business environment and evolving opportunities.
The Senior Minister also addressed related social issues, advocating for the inclusion and integration of immigrants into Singapore’s social fabric. Despite concerns about the increasing influx of foreigners, Mr Lee stressed the importance of embracing diversity to build a cohesive society.
