Singapore President Thurman Shanmugaratnam said on Thursday that apart from participating in the creation of new generation technology solutions, Singapore is considering new initiatives such as semiconductor manufacturing in India and building a semiconductor ecosystem. Ta. The visiting dignitary reflected on his 2022 visit to India, where he toured Assam as Singapore’s senior minister, and announced that he would focus on Odisha this time.

“We will never forget that India was one of the first countries to recognize Singapore’s independence in 1965. It’s a natural partnership. Across all sectors, our business ties are flourishing,” President Shanmugaratnam said, highlighting that Singapore has been “the largest investor in India for many years.”

“We are also considering other initiatives in the digital space. We are exploring the possibility of a data corridor between GIFT City and Singapore so that financial institutions can exchange data on a secure and trusted basis. Mr. Shanmugaratnam said after the official welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan. He cited India’s “high ambitions” for eastern states such as Odisha and Assam, noting the efforts the two countries are making in areas such as renewable energy.

Singapore’s president spoke of the eastern states’ “natural advantages” such as the availability of natural resources, and the people’s desire for development in areas such as “logistics, connectivity and petrochemicals”. “We are now on a new trajectory with India by upgrading our relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. This was announced during Prime Minister Modi’s last visit to Singapore in September last year. We are committed to collaboration between advanced manufacturing and semiconductors and are helping to build a semiconductor ecosystem in India,” he told the media on the sidelines of an official ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan. mentioned in.

Later in the day, he and President Drupadi Murmu unveiled a joint logo here to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Singapore. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari called on Shanmugaratnam and the two leaders expressed their desire to leverage sustainable aviation fuel, green hydrogen and ammonia.
