Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian praised the Washington Commanders’ impressive victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night at AT&T Stadium. Despite being favorites to win, Marcus Mariota continued to chase Terry McLaurin until the final minute when his team scored a touchdown.
In response to the win, Ohanian was quick to congratulate the Washington Commanders, who are valued at $6.3 billion by Forbes magazine. Regarding X, the American wrote:
“Never doubt! OK, I was pretty doubtful we were going to win this game until the last few seconds, but I love watching this team come together under QB2 Mariota and find their mojo.”
With the win, the Commanders secure the No. 6 seed in the NFC and will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next weekend. Ohanian also expressed his enthusiasm for this upcoming matchup, writing about X:
“See you in Tampa. If you’re a @Commanders fan and see me at a game, I’ll buy you a drink.”
Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian first met in Rome in 2015. The two quickly became close and got engaged in October 2016. Their first daughter, Olympia, was born in September 2017, and they got married two months later. The couple gave birth to their second daughter, Adira, in 2022.
Serena Williams owns an NFL team
Alexis Ohanian is a huge Washington Commanders fan, while Serena Williams owns stock in the NFL team, the Miami Dolphins. In 2009, the tennis star bought a portion of the team’s shares with his sister Venus Williams. With this, they became the first black women to own a team in the NFL.
At the time, Williams told People magazine that he was excited to be part of the team owned by Stephen Ross, saying:
“I am very excited to be a part of such a prestigious organization. Having spent much of my childhood in the area, it is a great honor to be a part of this staple of Miami culture. “I look forward to many championships and much success with the Miami Dolphins.” ”
Besides the Dolphins, Serena Williams also owns a team in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). In 2020, she was announced as part of the ownership group of Los Angeles-based NWSL team Angel City, along with her husband Ohanian. Their daughter, Olympia, is also named as a team owner.
