Saudi Arabia has announced a $1.5 billion investment in Silicon Valley-based AI startup GROQ to expand the region’s AI inference infrastructure. The agreement, revealed at Leap 2025, a major technology event in Saudi Arabia, advances the Vision 2030 goal of strengthening the Kingdom’s AI computing capabilities and building an AI-powered economy.
The funding is based on GROQ’s previous work in the region, including the rapid deployment of the largest AI inference cluster in the Middle East in December 2024.
GROQ is operated from the data centre in Dammum, Saudi Arabia, and offers AI inference capabilities via GroqCloud™.
At LEAP 2025, Groq CEO Jonathan Ross, alongside Saudi Aramco CTO Ahmad O. Al-Khowaiter and Tareq Almin, demonstrated real-time AI applications, including reasoning large language models (LLMs), Saudi Arabia’s locally developed model Allam, and text-to – Speech model in both English and Arabic.
“It is an honor for GROQ to support the Kingdom’s vision for 2030,” Ross said. “We are excited to work with Saudi Arabian innovators to shape the next chapter of AI.”
The investment addresses the need for advanced computing solutions in the region with Saudi Arabia as a key player in AI infrastructure. GROQ continues to provide AI inference technology to businesses and developers through cloud and on-premises solutions.
