Samsung’s new flagship phones, the Galaxy S25 series, are almost ready for launch (release dates are below). However, one aspect of the current Galaxy S24 series appears to be a significant speed increase. This is good news for those who own an S24, S24 Plus, or S24 Ultra and don’t need to buy a new phone to get it. .
The third beta version of the One UI 7 software has now started, bringing changes to the UI. Samsung’s announcement reveals when new software will be released.

In addition to speed improvements, the One UI 7 free upgrade brings many other additions, including a vertically scrolling app drawer with a message alerting users to changes. There are lots of small changes, including a new icon for Galaxy AI, new sounds as described below, and updated settings for Game Booster Mode. Issues that occurred in previous versions, such as lock screen shortcuts and volume key operation, have also been fixed.
At CES in Las Vegas on Monday, January 6th, Samsung revealed that the next Galaxy Unpacked will be on Wednesday, January 22nd, and we can expect the Galaxy S25 line to launch on that day. This indicates that One UI 7 will arrive shortly thereafter with the benefits described below.
The new beta software is currently rolling out to the Galaxy S24 series and promises a number of changes, including enhancements to the Now Bar that appears on the lock screen.
The speed increase is the most interesting change and comes from the upcoming One UI 7 software that Samsung is expected to announce with the new S25 series. One of the benefits of electronic products is that as the software improves, the hardware gets even better over the years.
According to regular leaker Ice Universe, one benefit of the new software in particular is the changes that lead to new unlock sounds. The leaker describes the new lock and unlock sounds as “crunchy” and points out that there is a new sound to indicate when the phone is charging.
It’s a little interesting, but not much more, but the bigger news is how it affects the speed at which you unlock the S24. In another post about the X, Ice Universe said, “Not only is the sound clearer, but the fingerprint unlock speed is also much faster than previous versions.”
