The Chinese team has unveiled a groundbreaking quadruple robot that pushes the boundary between robotics and speed.

Developed by Zhijiang University’s Humanoid Innovation Institute, Black Panther 2.0 has teamed up with Hangzhou-based startup Mirror Me to achieve an incredible feat by running around 100 meters in under 10 seconds. I did.

Nature-inspired engineering

The Black Panther 2.0 design draws inspiration from a variety of animals, bringing incredibly efficient biomechanical structures. Its carbon fiber shins are modeled after rodents in the Jerboa desert, and while adding only 16% to its weight, it increases the impressive 135% stiffness.

The robot has a spring-loading knee joint that acts as a shock absorber, mimicking the powerful movement of the Black Panther. Plus, the “running shoes” inspired by cheetah claws improve grip performance at an astonishing 200%. At 2 feet tall and 0.8 inches and weighing 83.8 pounds, the robot achieves five peak stride frequencies per second.

Intelligent movement and adaptation

The impressive performance of Black Panther 2.0 is not solely due to hardware. It also incorporates artificial intelligence and machine learning to adapt walking in real time for specific situations. This technology allows robots to adjust the movement of the limbs using Huygens’s concept of combined pendulum principles, maintaining fluid motion over various terrains and bringing them closer to the agility of the organism. Break speed records

In addition to breaking records, Black Panther 2.0 joins the prestigious “10 Second Club” of the 100-meter sprint, surpassing previous record holder Hound developed at Korea’s Advanced Science and Technology Institute Ta. This achievement places robotic dogs ahead of most human sprinters, but still continues behind nature’s fastest runners like cheetahs, ostriches and wilds.

Important takeouts for your cart

The development of Black Panther 2.0 opens exciting possibilities for the future of robotics. Its high density motor driver suggests potential industrial applications, but its design further explores the differences in robotic and biological mobility. This technology can also be used to search and rescue and explore dangerous environments.
