A senior Iranian Revolutionary Guards official appears to have acknowledged that a series of direct attacks against Israel have failed to achieve their intended strategic goals.

Hossein Taeb, an adviser to the Supreme Commander of the Revolutionary Guards, made the comments Wednesday during a speech discussing Iran’s so-called Operation True Promise 3, an attack on Israel that Iranian officials have promised. Ta.

In comments carried by state media, Tayeb referred to Iran’s previous attacks on its regional rival, saying, “The true promise (1), operations 2 and 3 will be carried out when they are strategically effective.” It should be done.”

Operation True Promise 1 was Iran’s first-ever direct military attack against Israel, carried out on April 13, 2024.

In retaliation for Israel’s airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus two weeks ago, which killed two Iranian generals, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) launched more than 300 ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones. launched a coordinated attack. Israeli military facility.

In Operation Truth Promise 2, which took place on October 1, 2024, the Revolutionary Guard fired approximately 200 ballistic missiles at Israeli military facilities in response to the assassination of a senior Iranian-allied militant official.

“Accelerating the war does not mean success,” Taib added. “Strategic weapons must be used at the right time and in the right way.”

This unprecedented attack marked a significant increase in tensions between Iran and Israel, moving from proxy engagements to direct confrontation. However, Israel’s advanced air defense systems, supported by U.S. and allied forces, intercepted most of the incoming projectiles, minimizing casualties and damage.

Taib’s comments came after months of speculation about why Iran delayed new retaliation against Israel after attacking Tehran-backed militants in the region.

Earlier, two senior Revolutionary Guards officers said Iran’s loss of allies in Syria and lack of sufficient funds meant it was not the time for a new attack on Israel. Ta.
