TEHRAN – The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has arrested 15 terrorist suspects in Sistan and Baluchistan provinces in southeastern Iran.
The Revolutionary Guards Ground Forces Quds Headquarters Public Relations Office announced on Thursday that its soldiers, along with other security forces, carried out ground operations in the Iran-Pakistan border area.
The operation involved extensive support from combat helicopters and drone units, and the suspects were successfully arrested.
The Revolutionary Guards statement further pointed out that during the cleaning of the area to eradicate terrorist forces, a considerable cache of various weapons and ammunition was seized.
The operation was part of the ongoing “Martyrs of Security” exercise.
The enhanced anti-terrorism initiative led by the Revolutionary Guards has been ongoing since late October 2024.
The intelligence ministry and police are also participating in this large-scale exercise, which has so far succeeded in dismantling at least three terrorist teams.
Those detained include members of the so-called Jaish al-Adl terrorist group, which carried out a deadly attack on a police convoy in Taftan County in October 2024.
