Andover, Massachusetts. Raytheon has been awarded a $529 million contract to supply Patriot Air and Missile Defense System fire units and related equipment to the Netherlands, the company announced in a statement.
The contract was issued through a direct commercial sale and includes a firefighting unit with radar, launcher, command and control center and additional support systems, the statement said. This initiative will replace the fire brigade donated by the Netherlands to Ukraine.
The Patriot system is a ground-based air and missile defense capability designed to counter threats such as long-range cruise missiles, tactical ballistic missiles, and various air-breathing systems, the company said. The system is currently used in 19 countries and is designed to protect against complex and large-scale aerial threats, the statement said.
Production and related work for this contract will be performed primarily at facilities in Andover, Massachusetts, and Huntsville, Alabama, the company said.
