The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday (December 30, 2024) launched a scathing attack on the Congress, saying Rahul Gandhi blamed former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s death on “politics of opportunism”. He claimed that he had flown to Vietnam to press charges. In a new year when the whole country is mourning his death. The Congress hit back and asked, “When will Sanghis stop this ‘distraction’ politics?”

“As the country mourns the death of (former) Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Rahul Gandhi flies to Vietnam to ring in the new year,” Bharatiya Janata Party’s IT chief Amit Malviya wrote in a post on X. mentioned in.

“Mr. Gandhi has politicized and exploited Dr Singh’s death for political opportunism, but his contempt for him cannot be overlooked,” he charged. “Gandhi and Congress hate Sikhs. Never forget that Indira Gandhi desecrated Darbar Sahib,” Malviya added.

Reacting sharply to this, Congress leader Manickam Tagore wrote in a post on X: “When will the Sanghis stop this ‘distraction’ politics?” He called it “shameful” the way Prime Minister Narendra Modi denied Dr Singh a cremation site on the banks of the Yamuna and the way his ministers cornered the family.

“If Gandhi goes on a personal trip, why do you care?” he asked Malviya, and she said, “Have a good New Year.”
