The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate as co-chair of the next AI Summit in France, following an invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron.
“France is hosting the AI Summit and French President Emmanuel Macron has invited Prime Minister Modi to co-chair the summit,” MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said at the weekly press briefing on Friday. We have accepted the invitation and will let you know what happens next.” We will provide updates regarding that tour in the coming days. ”
In particular, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit will be held in France from February 10th to 11th. On February 10, various stakeholders, including heads of state and government representatives, will participate in multiple sessions. President Macron is scheduled to host a state dinner for heads of state and other dignitaries that evening, and a special summit for heads of state will be held at the Feb. 11 summit.
Earlier, President Macron had addressed the 30th Ambassadors’ Conference in Paris on January 11 and said that Prime Minister Modi would visit the country. “France will host the AI Summit on February 10th and 11th, the Summit for Action as we call it. This summit will enable an international dialogue on AI. Prime Minister Modi will also make an appearance ahead of the visit.”In our country, we want to build a dialogue with all sides on AI. ”
The French president underlined the importance of AI as a global dialogue and said that Gulf states will also participate, in addition to countries such as the United States, China and India, which play an important role in developing and regulating AI technologies.
President Macron said, “Not only the Gulf states but also major emerging countries such as the United States, China, and India are playing an important role.”
The French Presidency further emphasized the importance of addressing issues related to disinformation and misuse of AI, which are central themes of the summit’s discussions.
