Members of the far-right Proud Boys group are celebrating on communications channels run by the group, calling out President Donald Trump to those in their ranks convicted of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot. is excited about the pardon granted.

Their former leader Enrique Tarrio received one of the pardons and has just returned to his home city of Miami after being released from a Texas prison.

President Trump’s second term could see the return of an all-male group that regularly engaged in scuffles with far-left Antifa activists on the streets of American cities during Trump’s first term.

After the Capitol riot and the arrests of its leaders, the national Proud Boys split and retreated to local chapters, keeping a relatively low profile, occasionally protesting LGBTQ events or spending time in lingering stories. It was.

Their message today, and a march by some members in Washington on Monday, suggests they may return to the streets.

They communicate through dozens of public channels on Telegram, filled with celebratory chatter and abuse and slurs directed at their opponents. However, when they reunited, it seems that they moved some of their communication to a less public medium.

Asked by reporters if he was still a member of the Proud Boys, Tarrio said, “Four years ago, we made a decision not to tell the media about our organizational structure. But the media should do that. Don’t do that. I would like to suggest that it should be done.” I am a former Proud Boy leader. ”

Meanwhile, Trump’s opponents and people across the political spectrum have criticized the pardon.

“Mr Trump has simply condoned political violence,” former republican MP Joe Walsh told the BBC’s The Context programme. “They believe they are now free to do what they want because they have Donald Trump’s backing,” he said of the Proud Boys.
