According to PAN 2.0, PAN card holders in India can apply for reissue of their PAN card by paying a fee of Rs 50. The reissued PAN card with QR code will also be sent to the registered email address of the taxpayer. Application for re-issuance of PAN card can be submitted after correction and update if PAN details are available in income tax records. Once the details are updated, an updated PAN card with QR code will be sent to the taxpayer’s registered email address. The ability to correct and update your PAN details is available free of charge.

Before applying for a PAN card reissue, it is important to know the issuing authority of your current PAN card. The Income Tax Department has authorized two agencies to issue, update and provide PAN related services. These agencies are Protean (formerly known as NSDL e-governance) and UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Ltd (UTIITSL). To reprint your PAN card using a QR code, check the back of your PAN to find out which agency to contact.

Step-by-step guide for applying for PAN card reissue via QR code

Below are the steps by which taxpayers can apply for PAN card reissue using QR code at Protean (formerly NSDL).
Step 1: Visit https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/ReprintEPan.html.
Step 2: On the web page, enter the required details (PAN, Aadhaar (individuals only), date of birth). Select the required checkboxes and click “Submit”.
Step 3: A new web page will open on your screen where you will have to confirm the current details updated by the income tax department. Note that details are partially masked. Choose where you want to receive your one-time password (OTP). This website allows taxpayers to receive OTP on their mobile number, email ID or both. Select the checkbox for the PAN card to be sent to the correspondence address on record with the Income Tax Department. Click “Generate OTP”.
Step 4: An OTP will be sent to you with the selected options. The received OTP is valid for 10 minutes only. Enter the OTP and click Validate.
Step 5: Once the OTP is verified, you will be redirected to the mode of payment options. You can pay Rs 50 for PAN card reissue application using QR code. Select the “I agree to the terms of service” checkbox and click Submit.
Step 6: A new web page will open and ask you to pay Rs 50. Once payment is completed, a confirmation receipt will be generated. Please save this confirmation as you will be able to download your e-PAN from the NSDL website after 24 hours.

Your PAN card will be reissued and shipped to your registered address. You should receive your new PAN card within 15-20 days.
