Packers vs. Eagles scores, live updates: Philadelphia hosts Green Bay in wild-card NFC playoff matchup

It was a great play by the Packers’ secondary, but the Eagles’ offensive line couldn’t have done much more with the play — Jalen was injured for more than five seconds before the play fell apart. The Packers force a punt on third down.

Although their offense was held back in the second quarter, they opened the season with one of the NFL’s best rushers, who performed quietly but very well in the first half.

Green Bay’s miscues and excellent defensive play from both sides headlined the first half. After fumbling through the first kickoff and intercepting Jordan Love twice, the Packers allowed just 10 points. He also missed a 38-yard field goal and committed four penalties for 35 yards. Philadelphia has been held in check so far, at least in the passing game, with Jalen Hurts passing for just 39 yards in the first half.

The Eagles tried to score with 22 seconds left in the second quarter, but a penalty resulted in a punt and Green Bay forced another turnover. Other than a turnover on the first kickoff, Green Bay’s defense was excellent.

Zach Baun (ex-Wisconsin Badger) lures Jordan Love and extracts the pick, and the surprise All-Pro linebacker drives Philadelphia into Green Bay territory with 36 seconds and three timeouts. On the previous play, Baun failed to get a diving INT.

Green Bay needs all kinds of excitement, and this could be it. Reed made a big first-down catch and led the Packers on a run that gave them momentum.

After Jake Elliott’s field goal at the end of the first quarter, the Packers’ defense became solid. Philadelphia only gained 13 yards in the second quarter, but their defense was also great.

With 3:25 left in the first half, the Packers took over after Philadelphia punted inside its own 30-yard line.

That’s not good news for the Eagles. Dean, who is in his third year out of Georgia (Nolan Smith, Jordan Davis🐶🔴⚫️⚪️), had 128 tackles and three sacks in his career season in Philadelphia.

Green Bay empties out on the first drive of the day. It was McManus’ first career absence in the playoffs, and the Eagles still led 10-0 with just over five minutes left in a dominant first half, but injuries abound for the Eagles. There is a possibility. Darius Slay headed to the locker room with an apparent injury to his arm and shoulder, while linebacker Nakobe Dean was unable to return to the sideline on his own and was assisted to the field by two Eagles staff members. Philadelphia was flagged on Jalen Hurts’ first down run and then backed themselves up with a first try on a punt. Green Bay’s defense is once again a big factor, but the offense will need to find some rhythm going into this game.

Dontaevion Wicks was expected to be the receiver, but it appeared on the play that Slay was intended to be the receiver. That’s two turnovers for Green Bay in the first 15:08 of the game.

That first frame was all Eagles. Philadelphia gained 103 yards and 16 first downs from seven, while the Packers only had one first down. The opening turnover and touchdown were enough to stagger Green Bay. But we still have a lot of games left, so we’ll have a chance.

It was a win of sorts for the Packers defense, but they’re still trailing by two scores right now and aren’t moving the ball much. The Eagles were swarmed on defense, and Philadelphia’s offensive line was great. 19 seconds left in the first quarter — Philadelphia had the ball for 9 minutes, 28 seconds in the first quarter.

The Eagles’ offensive line has three Pro Bowlers this season in Lane Johnson, Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens, and they were outstanding in both the run and passing game in the first quarter today.

A few first downs, a run by Barkley and a run by Hurts get the sticks moving and the Eagles are in field goal range.
