Openai reports that it will air its first television commercial during the Super Bowl, marking its entry into advertising.
ChatGpt Maker Openai is likely to air its first television commercial during the Super Bowl, the Wall Street Journal said in a report citing the source. Openai neither confirmed nor denied the news, but this marks Openai’s first foray into commercial advertising.

Among the world’s most coveted television events for advertisers, Super Bowl guarantees a huge audience, and creative Super Bowl commercials can generate massive buzz. The 30-second ad spot during the 2025 Super Bowl priced up to $8 million.
Partly owned by Microsoft, Sam Altman’s Openai released ChatGPT in late 2022, and today has over 300 million active users.
The talk around Liekly Advertisement comes in December as he appointed first Chief Marketing Officer Kate Rouch. The company may now be focusing on marketing.
Also ahead of the Super Bowl, Openai received its first rebranding with a new logo and typeface.
AI Giants promoted at the Super Bowl
Openai’s rival Google was running ads promoting AI talent at last year’s Super Bowl. Google has returned to promote Gemini, a large language model, but had to edit the ads after the cheese facts went viral due to exaggeration. The AI-generated copy of the commercial claimed that Gouda described it as “comprising 50-60% of global consumption” in place of Cheddar and Mozzarella.
Another rival, Meta, promotes AI Ray-Bans. The humanity supported by Amazon has decided to sit this down. Last year, “Claude is AI for all of us. Humanity.”
The 2024 Super Bowl attracted an estimated 210 million viewers.
