NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5080 16 GB GPU will be the first Blackwell gaming card to hit stores in January, followed by the RTX 5090 flagship.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 “Blackwell” gaming lineup launches in January 2025, with RTX 5080 16 GB hitting retail first, followed by RTX 5090

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 “Blackwell” gaming GPU is almost here. The Green Team is gearing up to start working on next-generation GPUs in high-end products starting in January, as they prepare for their debut for CES 2025.

At the CES 2025 launch, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang will introduce high-end options for enthusiasts, including the GeForce RTX 5090 and GeForce RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 series products. This announcement includes both desktop and laptop GPUs, but we now have information on the actual retail launch.

Starting in January 2025, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 GPU with 16 GB GDDR7 memory and ultra-fast speeds of up to 32 Gbps will be available in mid-January, right after CES, aiming directly at the pinnacle of performance. Masu. Last time the 90 class GPUs were the first to go on sale, so it’s pretty interesting to see the 80 class GPUs hitting the shelves first.

This strategy could be because the RTX 4090 was much more popular compared to the RTX 4080. Not only was the RTX 4090 the first to hit retail stores, but it also delivered significant performance improvements compared to the previous generation, making it an incredible solution for high-end gamers. They were waiting for a rig upgrade. The RTX 4080 was mostly put on the back burner due to its poor value proposition, which was rectified to some extent with the “SUPER” release a year later. Gamers will be looking to gobble up any next-gen GPU that offers an upgrade path beyond existing products, but that doesn’t mean the RTX 5090 will launch much later.

NVIDIA Blackwell GB202 GPU for flagship GeForce RTX 5090 measures approximately 744mm2, 22% larger than AD102 in 40901

In fact, for enthusiasts, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090’s latency is just a few weeks off the RTX 5080. Both the RTX 5090 and RTX 5090D are said to be aiming for a debut by the end of January or mid-February. The RTX 5090 is once again a significant upgrade over the existing 90-class product and sets a new benchmark for high-end PC gaming.

AMD and Intel, on the other hand, are targeting the mainstream segment, so the performance they can offer will not exceed current generation enthusiast products, but in some cases, aspects such as ray tracing and value could become attractive. I’m a gamer. Intel has already proven that with its Arc B580 GPU. This took the market by surprise and is currently a top seller in the $250 segment in the US. It will be a tough battle for NVIDIA and AMD against Intel’s Arc B580 solution. Because their mainstream product launches are still months away and Intel could capture a significant portion of the market share that currently sits at 0%.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 is now available in both Founders Edition and Partner version, with the first listings starting to appear on the internet. The same case is true for RTX 5090 GPU retail, so stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
