NSDC and Dell Technologies launch solar community hub van to train underserved communities

In a critical effort to enhance skills development and close gaps in underserved communities, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has partnered with Dell Technologies, Learning Links Foundation, and local stakeholders to We launched the Solar Community Hub mobile training unit. The initiative was inaugurated at Kaushal Bhawan by Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Education.

Innovative mobile training unit

The Solar Community Hub is a state-of-the-art mobile training unit powered by solar energy. These units are equipped with advanced equipment such as laptops, portable furniture, GPS systems, MiFi routers, panic buttons, and Bluetooth-enabled speakers. These are designed to provide effective training in digital and financial literacy, cybersecurity, technical skills, and emerging technologies such as generative AI.

Seven mobile training units will be deployed across districts of Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra. In its 25th year, the program will expand to seven more districts and aims to impact 5.8 million beneficiaries, including youth, women, students, and veterans.

Commitment to inclusion and innovation

Highlighting the transformative potential of these hubs, Jayan Chaudhary said: This initiative will address critical skills gaps and foster inclusive growth by focusing on digital and financial literacy and emerging technologies. ”

Mr. Ved Mani Tiwari, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NSDC and other senior officials highlighted the role of this partnership in promoting sustainable development.

This initiative aligns with the goals of the Skill India Mission and demonstrates Dell Technologies’ commitment to impact one billion lives by 2030 through strategic partnerships and access to critical digital resources . This initiative exemplifies the integration of technology, sustainability, and skills development to address digital and financial literacy challenges in underserved areas. By leveraging solar power hubs, the program not only ensures environmental sustainability, but also reaches remote areas and breaks down barriers to access. Our focus on cutting-edge technologies such as Generative AI will prepare our community for the future and establish a strong foundation for a digitally inclusive and proficient India.
