The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) on Saturday announced a cash prize of Rs 2.5 million for young Nitish Reddy for his first Test century effort which was pivotal to India’s fightback in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. . On the third day of the fourth Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the 21-year-old Reddy scored an unbeaten 105 to guide India to 358 for 9. “Today is a lucky day and the happiest moment for the Andhra Cricket Association. We are extremely happy that a young boy from Andhra has been selected for the Test format and the international T20 format. As an honor, the Andhra Cricket Association On behalf of the Cricket Association, I would like to present Rs.2.5 million to Nitish Kumar Reddy,” (ACA) President Kesineni Shivanath said.

Reddy, who was outstanding in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, showed his mettle again in the fourth Test, sharing a crucial 127-run partnership with Washington Sundar (50 off 162 balls).

Reddy’s phenomenal innings was praised by cricketing legends, with Sunil Gavaskar describing it as one of the greatest Test knocks in India’s Test history.

Reddy’s first Test hundred by beating Scott Borland in straight sets convinced the Australian pacer of the young Indian batsman’s potential with the bat.

Reddy made an unbeaten 105 as India reached 358 for nine in the first innings and more importantly gave the team a chance to save their fourth Test here.

“Yeah, obviously he’s playing really well. Coming in through the middle, he’s down the order, but he seems to be trying to put the pressure back on us in a way and he’s playing well. ”Boland said in response to a question from PTI after the match. play.

“He played really well. He’s a young player from India who’s grown up and is hitting the ball really well. He seems to have taken almost every shot in the book,” he added.
