Nebraska football fans behaved in humiliating fashion after beating Wisconsin.
The Badgers fell to 5-6 after losing to the Cornhuskers 44-25 in Lincoln, and the victory made Nebraska bowl eligible for the first time since 2016.
It was also the first win for Nebraska over Wisconsin since 2012. Now, that might sound impressive on paper, but it’s not.
Nebraska stormed the field after defeating Wisconsin.
This is not impressive at all, as the Badgers entered the game as one of the worst teams in the B1G at .500.
Still, that didn’t stop Cornhuskers fans from acting like they won the Super Bowl. Watch Pathetic Field Storm below and let me know what you think. David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
First of all, I want to make it clear that some of the readers I regularly email are huge Nebraska fans.
I have the utmost respect for Cornhuskers fans. They are definitely one of the best fans in college football, if not the best fans in all of sports. Salt of the Earth people, and I loved my stay when I visited Lincoln in 2019. Please do not take this as an attack on average Nebraska fans.
Not at all. You can always have a beer with me, but I get paid to call a spade a spade.
What are my two rules for storming the field or court? What are they? For those who don’t know, let’s quickly review.
- Upsetting the top-ranked team in America.
- Winning a conference title as a team that rarely does so.
Was Wisconsin the top-ranked team in America? Not even close. Did Nebraska win the Big Ten on Saturday night in Lincoln?
Absolutely not. So what exactly are these fans doing? I know Nebraska is going through a tough time, but I never thought it would be this bad mentally for Cornhuskers fans.
Storming the field against a Badgers team that entered the game with three straight losses and perhaps the worst offense in the B1G is not just sad. It’s so pathetic.
This is America. In this country, we go to the moon, win world wars, and develop all the great things in the world, but we make no apologies for always striving for excellence. That’s the standard I expect, that’s the standard that my family expects, that’s the standard that George Washington expects, that’s the standard that everyone who aspires to success expects.
I think the good fans at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln missed the memo because beating a bad Wisconsin team “isn’t” a good reason to storm the field.
To the good people of Nebraska, I still love you, but you need to have higher standards. Much higher standards. agree? Do you disagree? Please let us know David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
